PPG Paints Arena

PPG Paints Arena

Over 30% less energy when compared to a conventional design.

Delivering the Home Ice Advantage

When the Sports and Exhibition Authority of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County needed a project manager for PPG Paints Arena, they trusted the experts. Oxford, in a joint venture with Chester Engineers, provided oversight of the pre-construction, construction, and occupancy phases of the project.

As a leading entertainment venue and home to the Pittsburgh Penguins, PPG Paints Arena is the regional epicenter for athletic events, concerts and family shows in Western Pennsylvania.

The Arena is designed to consume over 30% less energy when compared to a conventional design. This was accomplished using high efficiency lighting and HVAC systems, state of the art building controls, and an efficient building envelope.

In addition to the services provided on the arena project, the SEA enlisted the Oxford/Chester team for oversight of the construction of the adjacent parking structure. The five-story, $11.9M structure accommodates 645 cars for arena events, daily commuter parking and for the adjacent hotel.
