Building Superintendent – Butler, PA

Oxford is seeing to fill a full-time building superintendent position at the Butler VA Health Care Center in Butler, PA.

The position requires knowledge and experience in building systems and all other aspects of maintenance management including healthcare-specific items such as JCHAO and infection control standards and procedures. This will be a working position that is qualified to complete mechanical, electrical, and plumbing repairs. This position will also have the authority to make decisions and initiate repairs while remaining within budget.

The shift for this position is primarily Monday through Friday 6:30 am to 3:30 pm and on-call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for emergencies.

Minimum 2 years experience or related educational training in commercial maintenance with experience in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry repairs.

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and direct the maintenance staff of 2 and monitors the performance of their assigned responsibilities
  • Perform and/or direct all maintenance service requests ensuring that the work is performed efficiently with a minimum amount of disruption to tenants
  • Check malfunctioning equipment and find corrective action
  • Recommend and estimate facility repairs and improvements for inclusion in the annual budget
  • Direct the performance of contracted maintenance work as needed
  • Supervise the preventative maintenance program. Specific duties include but are not limited to:
    • Scheduling of preventative maintenance with minimum disruption of building services
    • Perform and/or delegating preventative maintenance tasks to staff members
    • Order parts and equipment required for repair
    • Maintenance and installation of new equipment and facilities
    • Maintain inventory
  • Perform additional duties as requested

Applicant Requirements:

  • Minimum of a high school diploma, two years of trade or vocational schooling, or apprenticeship in electrical, piping/plumbing, refrigeration, or HVAC
  • 5+ years of experience in healthcare facility/plant engineering maintenance
  • Thorough understanding of Joint Commission and other regulatory surveys
  • Good interpersonal skills, ability to communicate well in both oral and written reports, and possession of excellent customer service skills
  • Proficiency in basic computer software such as Microsoft Office and Outlook.
